Portable Pointers

September 20, 2025

Great fall weather means great opportunities for portable operating outdoors. Join us for this informal get together to discover how to make the most of your portable station.

Here's How to Make The Most Of Your Portable Station

If you’re interested in getting outdoors with your portable gear…
And if you’d like to sharpen your portable operating skills or lock in some good fundamentals…

This LVRAC event up in the Spring Mountains on Saturday, September 20th is just for you.

Matt, K7XMD and Paul, K7RKO, will have their portable stations set up so you can see what works for two of your club’s more active portable operators.

They’ll answer your questions, share some tips and get you dialed in on the enjoyable world of outdoor portable operating.

Bring your gear, bring your questions, a cup of coffee, whatever you want, and join Matt and Paul.

Do you have an antenna you’d like to test away from the city noise? Perhaps a portable power supply you’d like to check out?

Bring your gear up to the mountains and we’ll help you shake it down.

And if you just want to ask some questions and get some outdoor portable operating ideas, that’s great, come on up.

Matt and Paul will set up on the Sawmill Trailhead parking lot, just off the Lee Canyon Road on Saturday, September 20th. They’ll be there starting at 8:00A.

When you head uphill on Lee Canyon Road you’ll make a right hand turn into the marked Sawmill Trailhead parking lot, then you’ll go left at the T and you’ll find them.

(This area is across Lee Canyon Road where we set up for Field Day.)

No four wheeler? No problem. Everything’s paved.

Here at the LVRAC, one of our goals is to help our members interested in operating portable enjoy fun and successful outings outdoors.

Now that the weather is turning, we’re in prime time.

So if this interests you, make plans to join Matt and Paul.

They’re looking forwarding to spending some fun time with you…

And sharing a few portable pointers.
