K7UGE Repeater Update – October 20, 2025
Behind the scenes, There is lot’s happening on the UHF/VHF front.
On October 20, 2025, the link between 146.940 and 448.500 repeaters has been temporarily disconnect. The two repeaters are operating independently.
The repeater team made a trip to the Westgate on October 4th. We reinstalled the 146.940 repeater, removed the old antenna and replaced it with the Hustler G7 VHF vertical antenna.
The current 146.940 repeater had been on the bench. Among other things, it’s been given a touch up on the antenna connection at the circuit board on the receive radio.
Allstar linking for the 146.910 Las Vegas EOC repeater and the Amargosa EOC repeater is complete. Ultimately the 146.940 at Westgate will be linked with the 146.910 at the LAS EOC. There are technical issues to be worked out. Time frame is TBD.
The 448.500 will stay put atop the Westgate, which will be its permanent home. There are no plans to abandon the Southern Hills location. A UHF repeater will be installed once the hospital completes its expansion. We’re told we should be able to access the roof before the end of 2025.
And as we look ahead, the club is the early going of planning and preparing an application for grant funding. Our goal is to acquire at least one Motorola MOTOBRO SLR 5000 Series repeater to replace and upgrade existing equipment.
We’ll continue to focus on returning the K7UGE repeaters to optimum performance and we’ll continue to keep you posted.
